Our Strategy
We are focused on the social housing sector and intend to grow the scale of our business very rapidly.
Our priorities are:
To recruit, retain and develop excellent people
In order to achieve our growth targets, we intend to employ over 3,000 people by the end of 2007. We are attracting a strong mix of new employees and place particular emphasis on recruiting local people. Local recruitment is an effective way to compete for talent and ensure we can grow quickly to meet clients’ needs.
We use the strengths of our Group – including great training and thorough succession planning – to help our employees enjoy their work, develop their capabilities and reach their full potential.
To develop close partnerships with clients and communities
We believe this makes good business sense, as strong client relationships enable us to do better work, increase the scale and scope of existing contracts, achieve sustainable margins and gain a clear picture of our future earnings. We recognise our responsibility to help develop sustainable communities and invest significantly in community projects that help to improve quality of life. We encourage all of our employees to be actively involved in community projects.
To constantly search for new and better ways to support clients and help tenants
Innovative thinking helps us to develop new and better ways to improve and maintain homes, making the entire process a better experience for all involved. We ensure that all great ideas generated at local level are shared throughout the Group using the One Mears Way. We’re always looking for ways to reduce cost and waste, and take a very active approach to the efficiency agenda with our clients.
