Brighton apprentices 'they're hired!'

Four local apprentices are celebrating this week after completing their apprenticeships and gaining permanent jobs at local repairs and maintenance provider Mears.

Mears is a big supporter of local apprenticeships, and when four permanent positions became available, were keen to receive applications from their apprentices who were about to qualify.  The successful apprentices are Sonny Smith (Carpenter), Simon Waller (Plumber), Stephen Hurrell (Multi-trader) and Dan Harber (Plumber).

To congratulate them and welcome them into their new roles each apprentice was given £100 in vouchers to enable them to buy tools they will need in their new careers.

Sonny Smith said "I found my apprenticeship through a local open day at Moulsecoomb Leisure Centre. Mears has really helped me get where I want to be in life and I'm really excited about this great opportunity to work with them now I have completed my apprenticeship".

Richard McKenzie, Mears' Apprenticeship Supervisor said "We are thrilled to be able to offer permanent roles to these apprentices.  They're proven themselves to be hard working and dedicated, and we look forward to their career development within Mears working on our contract with Brighton & Hove City Council".
