Job Purpose

A Business Analyst within Mears must;

 Ensure that business units within the group are running at an efficient capacity through the use of BA skills identifying areas of weakness in Systems and Processes, owning these issues and seeing solutions through to completion.
 Identify and Share best practice across the group at the system and process level for any department.
 Approach work in a methodical manner, ensuring projects are completed to timescales with risk mitigation.

Required skills

 2-3 Years experience as a Business Analyst or similar position
 12 months housing or MOD business analysis experience desirable
 Experience supporting complex IT systems
 Define requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, site visits and task and workflow analysis.
 Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
 Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyse information needs and functional requirements and deliver Business Requirements Documents.
 Utilise your experience in using company-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies required.
 Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
 Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
 Strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
 Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external) customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
 Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
 Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
 Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
 Be able to make informed decisions that reflect the standards and objectives of your line manager, IT director and Mears Group PLC
 Ability to assist with bid documents and signing off any processes created by team, ensuring they are recorded in a central repository for business support and authorized operational management.
 Competently manage internal testing and UAT for systems and processes with all stakeholders.
 Understand basics around data transfer routines such as data staging tables and how data is
referenced between two (or more) remote systems.
 Ability to design an integration solution at the non-technical level, with thought on what data needs
to exist in what system as well as static data requirements and data mappings / transformations of
data.
 SQL skills to be able to independently extract information from data sources and process efficiently in
order to satisfy reporting, audit and mobilisation requirements
 Understanding of Basic Networking infrastructure and secure methods of Data Transfer, VPN and
FTP/SFTP, webservices.
 Experience of presentation skills to audiences of up to 50 people
 An ability to present ideas in a user-friendly tone suitable to the audience.
 Training skills for delivering bespoke system training to groups of up to 15
 Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative and within agreed timescales
 Support and Maintain IT systems in line with Business Requirements

Communication / Team Involvement

Technical Support

Assisting with technical issues when required. Reporting issues that are affecting the department SLA or
operational efficiency.
Business Support
Assist in ensuring Service Desk can deliver correct, informed resolutions to support calls.
Assisting with Data Integrity
Responding to allocated support calls efficiently and in a timely manner
SQL Team
Assisting with scoping of interface and integration requirements
3rd Parties / Clients
Presenting business model to clients and assisting business development team
Agreeing terms of mobilisation including creation of agreed project plans
Assisting in testing with Client IT departments where required
Attend Local Authority/Housing Association/Council/Government body meeting to provide IT knowledge and
discuss technical issues
Development
Ensuring specifications are delivered in a pro-active, informed manner that reflects business objectives as well
as operational requirements.
Operational Business
Key stakeholders including
Tenant/Service user – Ensuring an awareness of what the key requirements are
Operative / Carer – Identifying and communicating requirements and process
Office Staff – Identifying and communicating requirements and process
Management and Director level – Ensuring awareness of requirements
