Mears Group PLC (the "Company") yesterday received notification pursuant to Sections 198 to 202 of the Companies Act 1985, as amended by Section 134 of the Companies Act 1989, that as a result of a sale of 600,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") on 14 October 2004, Unicorn Asset Management Limited and its subsidiaries and affiliates, are currently interested in 5,669,770 Ordinary Shares, representing 9.8 per cent of the Company's issued share capital.
