  • Investors in People

The fact that Mears has been accredited by Investors in People (IIP) since 1994 is one of the achievements of which we can all be most proud.During this period Mears has grown from 350 employees to over 13,000,

IIP accreditation requires organisations to consistently operate in a way that develops employees and to actively engage with them to look for ways to improve the running of the company. It is also important that the organisation is socially responsible and that people are committed to its' success.

Mears may be a larger organisation now but our commitment to staff development will never change.

In 2011 you will see new efforts to increase our apprenticeships, support management development, launch our new Graduate programme and continue to develop all our staff in Health and Safety.

I would like to thank all staff for their individual contribution to our continuing success

The opportunities to work for Mears are as diverse as the people it employs and the locations it operates in.

Both housing and care-services operations continue to grow rapidly creating many local skilled and un-skilled openings in the field or behind the scenes in branches. More than 100 branches nationwide need support services to ensure the cogs are oiled and the wheels turn and, unlike many organisations our size, central services don't sit in one vast corporate building in a single location but are distributed around the U.K so you are probably never far away from an opportunity to work for us.

Locally our housing operations employ people in:
Management, admin, finance, surveying and technical, quality and compliance, tenant liaison, customer care-services, stores and of course all trades personnel.

Our care-services operations employ people with a wide range of skills and experiences including Managers, administrators, finance, co-ordinators QA Managers, trainers and care-services workers.

Local operations are supported by dedicated central support teams which include Payroll and Accounts, HR, Community and Environment, Fleet Management, Marketing and Procurement.

The company is fully committed to the on-going training and personal development of its staff and to creating opportunities for staff feedback and social interaction across the Group, such as an annual Family Fun Day to which all staff are invited for a free day out.
