Mears are passionate about investing in apprenticeships.
We see them as a vital part of our approach to recruit, develop and retain talent and provide school leavers and older employees the chance to earn while they learn. In fact, it’s how many of our senior people began their careers.
In 2018 we had 607 apprenticeship programmes that were completed through our business with the help and support of our committed mentors and the use of Mears Learning; a dedicated facility to support the development of our apprentices.
Mears Learning is a direct supplier of apprenticeships to levy paying organisations. We also retain our contract with CITB to deliver construction related apprenticeships to non-levy paying organisations.
Over recent years, we extended our apprenticeship opportunities from the more traditional roles ‘on the tools’ into new areas which span the entire business and we're always looking for motivated individuals who share our passion for working in the community to apply for apprenticeships in:
- Business Administration
- Painting and Decorating
I was an administrator but always wanted to learn a trade. When the opportunity for a plumbing apprenticeship came up I put myself forward. It was the best thing I have ever done. An apprenticeship is a great way to learn new skills and get first- hand experience.
