Mears Wins Top Award at National Social Value Awards

Mears Group has been recognised for their commitment to communities with the ‘Organisational Leadership Award’ at the prestigious National Social Value awards held in London.

The Social Value Awards celebrate innovation and leadership in social value, showcasing best practice from around the UK on how all sectors are embedding social value into the way they do business.

Mears was recognised for being an organisation that has social value running throughout its activity as an intrinsic part of its identity.

The win comes on the back of the revelation that in 2019, Mears delivered on average £5500 each of social and diversity impact activity and is the first organisation in the housing sector to have received a Level 1 Social Value Certification by Social Value International.

Tracey Lyth, Group Head of Customer Success, Mears, said:

"We are delighted to have won this award for our commitment to our communities. It is a clear recognition of the fact that social and diversity impact activity and commitment is embedded at every level in our organisation.

At Mears, social value is not merely a lip-service – it is in our DNA.

"Baroness Barran, the keynote speaker at the conference, talked about how all organisations across the UK have a growing responsibility to address their commitment to positive social, economic and environmental impact as part of the work that they do.

“We are proud to be recognised as leaders – but there is still a lot of work to be done.”

"Social and diversity impact activity - which has long been a focus for local government - is now recognised as key to central Government too. It will be a major and growing focus in all our sectors with all of our partners and clients.

“We are recognised as leaders in our field so we have a competitive edge, but we need to keep this up. We need to get behind delivering more and building on this momentum."
