42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)

About the role:

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Multi Skilled Operative with proven experience to join our responsive repairs team in hastings covering hastings to Brighton. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering day-to-day repairs within social housing, ensuring properties are safe, functional, and maintained to a high standard for residents.

Working across occupied homes, you’ll be responsible for carrying out a wide range of reactive maintenance tasks across multiple trades. From minor repairs to more involved maintenance issues, you’ll take a first-time fix approach wherever possible, helping to minimise repeat visits and deliver a reliable service.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced repairs environment, can fault-find effectively, and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. You’ll also play a key part in providing a positive experience for residents, working respectfully within their homes and keeping them informed throughout the job.

 Duties

  • Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs and maintenance within occupied social housing properties
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs across a range of trades, ensuring a first-time fix wherever possible
  • Complete carpentry repairs including skirting, architraves, doors, frames, locks, and ironmongery
  • Undertake minor plumbing repairs such as leaks, tap replacements, and unblocking sinks
  • Carry out patch plastering and make good following repair works
  • Complete basic tiling repairs including regrouting and resealing
  • Carry out painting and decorating to reinstate areas after maintenance works
  • Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards and SLAs
  • Work in occupied properties, maintaining a high level of customer care and respect for residents’ homes
  • Participate in out-of-hours emergency repairs rota where required
  • Identify and report follow-on works or additional maintenance issues
  • Deliver excellent customer service and communicate clearly with residents about works being carried out
  • Accurately record job details, materials used, and outcomes using handheld devices
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle to a good standard
  • Manage workload effectively to meet daily targets and appointments

Key Criteria:

  • Proven experience in plastering, including patching, skimming and making good
  • Experience working within domestic or social housing repairs
  • Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
  • Willingness to assist and support additional trades alongside plastering works
  • Comfortable managing jobs independently from start to finish
  • Strong attention to detail with a right first time approach
  • Professional and customer‑focused manner when working in residents’ homes
  • Good understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Confident using handheld devices for job updates and reporting
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Own hand tools
  • Willingness to join an out‑of‑hours emergency rota
