Contract overview
Mears Group delivers the North Lanarkshire Enterprise contract for North Lanarkshire Council, providing repairs, maintenance and capital investment across almost 37,000 homes and 1,200 public buildings. The 12-year contract began in July 2024 and brings housing and corporate property services together under one integrated model, ensuring quality, safety and long-term asset sustainability. Social value is embedded throughout, supporting local jobs, apprenticeships and community initiatives.
Scope of works
Services include reactive and routine repairs, statutory compliance and safety inspections, and planned improvement programmes such as kitchens, bathrooms, adaptations and void works. The contract also covers maintenance of schools and civic buildings, keeping public assets safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
In 2024/25, nearly 500 local people were employed on the contract, including 120 apprentices. Mears also supported 13 community groups, delivered over 2,200 volunteer hours and raised £60,000 for local causes, working with supply chain partners to maximise local benefit.
Outcomes and impacts
The Enterprise is delivering high-quality homes, safer buildings and strong community outcomes. Customer satisfaction is 97%, with low complaint levels. Alongside improved housing standards and asset performance, the contract creates jobs, develops skills and reinvests in communities, maintaining homes while building lasting social value across North Lanarkshire.
