Contract overview
Mears Group delivers the Willow Court Extra Care Scheme on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council. Running from February 2023 to 2029 (with an option to extend to 2033), the service is based in Whittlesey and provides domiciliary care within an extra care housing scheme for people aged 55 and over.
Residents live independently in their own apartments while receiving flexible, person-centred support, delivered in line with regulated care standards.
Scope of works
The service supports residents with tailored care plans, safe medication management and partnership working with health professionals.
Support includes personal care, medication administration, meal preparation, domestic help, mobility assistance, shopping and social calls, and one-to-one services.
Regular social activities, including coffee mornings, exercise sessions and seasonal events, help reduce isolation and promote inclusion, with adaptations to meet mobility or sensory needs.
Outcomes and impacts
Willow Court improves wellbeing, reduces isolation and builds confidence, enabling residents to remain independent while feeling safe and connected.
The scheme demonstrates how high-quality, person-centred extra care can promote dignity, belonging and community for older people.
One resident shared:
“Moving here has changed my life. I was isolated and anxious before, but now I feel part of a family. There’s always something going on and I can join in at my own pace. I feel safe, supported and still independent. I’m happier and more confident, and I finally feel like I belong.”
