Golf day raises £1,500 for local hospice

Local charity Hospiscare is set to benefit from the proceeds of Mears' charity golf day which was held at Woodbury Park raising over £1,500.
Mears repair and maintain over 18,000 homes on behalf of social housing landlords across the South West with locations in Exeter, Ferndown, Devon and Cornwall. The firm committed to supporting the local hospice for the second year running through the funds raised at its golf day.

Hospiscare, which provide free services for people with a terminal diagnosis received a cheque for £1,529 as a result of donations from entrance fees, raffles and competitions that included hole in one, texas scramble, long putting and best dressed golfer.

The event, which attracted over 100 avid golfers, was attended and supported by Mears employees, as well as partners, suppliers and subcontractors of the firm, along with representatives from Hospiscare.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of Hospiscare, Corporate Fundraiser, John Arnold said, "It is only with the amazing support of the local community and organisations such as Mears Group that we are able to make such a difference for our patients and their families. Thank you so much for organising a very successful Mears Golf Day."

Organiser of the event, Mears Exeter Branch Manager, Philip Taverner said 'Mears is committed to supporting the local community in which we work, the hospice, like us, provides services across the whole of the South West and with the help of our partners and colleagues we are delighted to be able to give them much needed support.'
