Handover at Millers Lock

We are delighted to have handed over the affordable housing element of our mixed tenure development at "Millers Lock" in Welford, Northamptonshire.

Mears, working in partnership with Orbit Homes, secured the site in 2015 with the benefit of outline planning consent for the development of 30 houses for market sale and 13 for shared ownership and affordable rent.

We have taken great care to ensure that the entire scheme has been designed, specified and delivered to exceptional quality standards. Whilst internal specifications naturally differ, the affordable homes for Orbit have been designed to be tenure blind in terms of the external materials, with elevation treatments reflecting the same choices and fine detailing used across the market sale homes.

This is a design philosophy that is promoted across all of our mixed tenure schemes.

With the development almost sold out, we are really pleased to be welcoming 13 new families into this community and look forward to working with Orbit on Phase 2, (for 16 further homes) which is now in construction.

George Obeng-Manu, Development Contracts Director for Orbit Homes said:

“It’s excellent that Orbit can provide new social rent homes in an area where so many local people struggle to find a home they can afford. We are delighted to accept the handover of these affordable units. The design and quality of the homes are exceptional and we look forward to more of the same in the next phase. Overall we are very satisfied with the finished scheme."
