Mears Group features in Top 75 Social Mobility Employer Index

Mears Group has once again been recognised for its outstanding work in social mobility.
Mears Group has once again been recognised for its outstanding work in social mobility.

For the fifth year running, Mears has taken part in the Social Mobility Employer Index, the leading accreditation to recognise good work for employer-led social mobility.

The Index is a rigorous assessment of the steps being taken by employers to ensure talent from all social backgrounds can ‘get in and get on’ within organisations, while ensuring equity and a sense of belonging in the workplace.

Mears has been awarded a Top 75 Employer kitemark for its focus on offering employment, development, and succession opportunities to everyone, irrespective of their background, moving up the list this year to be placed 33 amongst 143 organisations, together employing in excess of 1 million employees.

The accreditation is achieved through a combination of benchmarking the company’s approach to social mobility with data-led evidence, alongside the results of an anonymous staff survey.

This year, the judges specifically recognised Mears for its good policies and best practice in attracting applicants, and enabling more access routes into employment, including its careers website, and working with local partners, schools and colleges for pre-recruitment and apprenticeships.

Gary Jackson, Group Director, Communication and Customer Success said:

We’re proud to be recognised for the work we’re doing to create a fairer and more inclusive culture. We recognise that a truly diverse and inclusive workforce is key to the future success of the business. Creating the right culture and environment for our people to succeed is an important part of our approach and we continue to take steps to ensure diversity and inclusion is embedded across every part of our business.
