Mears Group has recently launched its new Dementia Awareness Toolkit: Become a Dementia Friend, which is available to all employees and customers to support those living with dementia.

With over 850,000 people living in the UK with Dementia, many of us will know, work or interact with someone living with the condition.

Mears have implemented this toolkit to raise awareness and transform the way we think, act and talk about Dementia, providing information on how to approach and support someone with the condition, as well as training others to do so.

Tracey Lyth, Group Head of Customer Success has said: “At the heart of Mears lies a strong sense of responsibility towards improving people’s lives. We are committed to achieving this by ensuring that everyone we work with creates greater value and wider benefits from an integrated Social Value approach and our ‘Become a Dementia Friend’ toolkit shows how we are putting this into practice.”

To access free information on Dementia, book a dementia friend’s session or sign up to be a Champion visit www.dementiafriends.org.uk.

Other ways you can help:

  • Raise money for the different charities supporting people with Dementia in the UK. Why not have a cake sale in your branch to raise money?
  • Get involved in an event already organised, the Alzheimer’s Society have many on their website.
