Mears proudly announces annual charity event

Date set for second charity ball after inaugural event proves big hit.

Mears Group has set a date for its 2009 Grand Summer Ball - an evening of food, drink and live entertainment on Friday 10th July to raise money for a range of local causes.

The event, Mears' second annual charity ball, will be a black tie evening dinner with all the trimmings - from a refined champagne reception to live artist and late night disco. The event will feature a number of fundraising events, including a charity game of Stand Up Bingo, and an auction and raffle of items donated by the evening's generous sponsors, with any money raised going towards supporting a number of projects in the Stockport area.

The inaugural charity ball last year was a runaway success. Mears set a target of £1,700 in order to buy a brand new baby incubator for the Treehouse Children's Ward at the Stepping Hill Hospital - the event actually raised £5,000. Mark Halstead, Customer and Community Manager for Mears Stockport, said: "It was fantastic to raise so much money for Stepping Hill at our inaugural ball, but because we had such a great response last year, this time we have committed to helping a number of local projects."

Mears will again be raising money for Stepping Hill, but this time in addition to new beneficiaries of St Anne's Hospice for terminal cancer patients, and Brindale House, a refuge for vulnerable families. As Mears is already fitting a new kitchen at Edgeley Play Centre, it is also hoped that money from the event can be used to buy play equipment or a PC for the care centre. "As well as raising money for these causes," added Mr Halstead, "it gives the people who work for these wonderful charities, hospices and care centres a chance to have a good night out, and see how much everyone appreciates the work that they do."

Having worked so hard to make the inaugural ball such a triumph, the Mears Stockport team of Rachel Hill-Davies, Marc Ward, Mark Ratcliffe and Mark Halstead, along with their suppliers and sub contractors, are looking forward to repeating their success at the 2009 Grand Summer Ball. Tickets are on sale now at £25 per person, or your business can sponsor a table starting at £250 for 10 guests.
