Pop-up plumbing in Peckham

Local resident with Bob Lucas, Mears.Mears Southwark were invited by Pempeople (People Empowering People) to provide local residents with DIY workshops in the heart of the community.Throughout August and September at 91 High Street, Peckham (close to the library) Pempeople will be running a Pop-up shop. They are offering a range of activities for local residents to try out including balloon decorating, web building sessions, fashion workshops, drama sessions and much more.Mears Southwark were delighted to be asked to be a part of this fantastic project and will be running three DIY sessions. The sessions will include basic plumbing, tiling, decorating and carpentry. The first session proved a great success with more than 20 people dropping into the shop and learning new skills, the next sessions take place on Wednesday 27 August and Wednesday10 September, 10am–2pm.One local resident said: "Bob Lucas (Mears Operative) was fantastic, he answered all my questions and I can't wait for the next session. Its great it’s on the high street."Bob Lucas said: “It was a real pleasure to take part in this project and to help teach people simple DIY skills. I really enjoyed meeting the residents and I’m looking forward to the other sessions.”Everyone is welcome and to find out more about the DIY workshops or any other session.
