Show home opens at new extra care scheme in Northampton

The show home at a new extra care development for over 55’s is now open to the public in Northampton.

Balmoral Place, which is being built by Mears Group in partnership with HB Villages and Northamptonshire County Council, is one of a number of extra care developments being developed across the UK.  An alternative to residential care homes, extra care enables people to maintain their independence in a home of their own for as long as they want to.

Members of the public are invited to make an appointment to view the show home and find out more about the facilities on offer at Balmoral Place, currently under construction at Balmoral Road in Northampton and set to open in the autumn.

The development offers 80 individual, spacious one bedroom apartments, with communal gardens, a resident’s lounge and other facilities such as an on-site hair salon and mobility scooter storage with charging points.  All of the homes have been designed to be wheelchair accessible, have level access showers and adaptable kitchens.  Tailored individual care is provided by Mears Care who will have a presence at Balmoral Place 24 hours a day.

Mears’ Care Manager, Kate Arlow, said: Homes at Balmoral Place are available to local people who are over 55 and have been assessed to have a care need, including those whose care is funded by the Local Authority and those who are self-funding their own care.

“We realise that extra care is a new concept for many, so we encourage people to get in touch with us to find out more, or better still, book an appointment to come and see the development for themselves.”
