Student Life gives Dundee £3.5m refurbishment

A £3.5 million refurbishment by Mears Student Life has breathed new life into a historic building in Dundee.

The Old Mill, owned and managed by Mears Student Life, is home to 409 students in the heart of the city centre, close to the University of Dundee, University of St Andrews and Abertay University.

Mears Student Life was established in 2016 and now manages more than 1,100 homes across Manchester and Plymouth as well as Dundee.

Despite the name – The Old Mill – the accommodation is a modern and newly decorated space, with a mix of studios, one-bed apartments and apartments for up to six people with shared facilities. Communal facilities outside of the apartment include a large, bright common room with television, comfy seats, vending machines as well as ping-pong and pool tables. Rent covers heating, electricity and high-speed broadband.

Manpreet Dillon, Director of Customer Services, said: “We have made this investment to bring the historic Old Mill back to life and up to a high standard that students expect and can be proud of – it is a great space for students to feel safe and comfortable.

“It’s also an investment in Dundee, helping attract the best students to the universities and to the great city itself.”
