Colleagues from across Mears Group climbed Snowdon last month in support of the Mears Foundation, raising vital funds to support community-led social value projects across the UK.

Participants were met with rare sunshine, clear skies, and spectacular 360-degree views from the summit. The day began with a team photo beside a mirrored lake - complete with an unexpected fly-past from two fighter jets - before setting off up the challenging Ranger Path.

Despite the steep and demanding route, the team remained focused and determined throughout the climb. Hikers of all experience levels took part, offering encouragement and practical support to ensure everyone reached the summit safely.

To date, the group has raised over £5,000, with £2,500 remaining to reach their target. All funds raised will be matched pound-for-pound by Mears Group, with every contribution going directly towards projects that deliver tangible benefits to local communities.

The Mears Foundation works to support initiatives that improve lives and create lasting change in areas such as social inclusion, health and wellbeing, education, and community development. Colleague-led projects are a core part of its mission, ensuring those closest to the communities we serve help shape the support provided.

Heather Tyrer, General Manager of the Mears Foundation, commented:
This was one of the most impactful Foundation challenges to date. The determination shown by the team was outstanding, and we’re incredibly grateful for the funds raised so far. Every penny will go towards projects that align with our core mission of making a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
Louise Briggs, Planner, Mears Group, added:
Climbing Snowdon was difficult, but I loved every minute. The team spirit kept us going, and the views were worth it. The welcome at the summit was so special – I’d recommend taking part, not just for the cause but for the sense of achievement.
