Applications are now open in Mears teams across the UK for a wide range of trades apprenticeships including bricklaying, blacksmithing, plumbing and carpentry, as well as office-based roles in human resources, customer service, business administration and more.

Successful candidates will gain skills for life and join an award-winning organisation that has been ranked as one of the top ten Best Big Companies to work for in the UK for over five years. They will benefit from the guidance of experienced industry mentors, colleagues who have been carefully selected from across the organisation, as well as Mears’ strong partnerships with a network of specialist training providers.

Jo Fry, Human Resources Director at Mears, said:

“Apprentices form an invaluable part of our Group, bringing in fresh ideas and approaches and enabling Mears to grow a skilled workforce that is diverse and sustainable, ready for the future. Our 322 current apprentices, plus an additional 91 colleagues who are utilising apprenticeships to upskill, benefit from industry-leading training and hands-on experience overseen by mentors who are experts in their field, with many of them progressing to permanent roles at Mears.”

Liam Wilkinson, Deputy Employee Director at Mears, said:

“Last year, we received a record-breaking number of applications and welcomed a cohort of 137 apprentices, with every one of them already making a positive difference. This year, we’re proud to launch a range of diverse opportunities spanning from Aberdeen to Exeter, to reach the very best of talent across the UK.”

Demi-Leigh Maughan has successfully completed a Business Administration Apprenticeship whilst helping to guide fellow colleagues by leading Mears’ Apprentice Ambassador programme. Launched in 2025, the programme sees eight ambassadors support their peers and help promote apprenticeships at Mears. Demi-Leigh said:

“After leaving school, I had begun a career that wasn’t quite right for me. The apprenticeship opportunity at Mears came along at the right time and was the right decision for me. Now I am proud to represent Mears as an Apprentice Ambassador; it means that I can make a difference and spread awareness of how effective apprenticeships are.”

The application window for apprenticeships at Mears is now open. Find out more and apply here.
