Mears Care Greenwich Family Funday

Staff at Mears Greenwich have been challenged to work in their local communities to tackle the debilitating issues of isolation and loneliness. These devastating problems often affect people of all ages and can be reduced by ensuring there are more events where people can come together and enjoy social activities.Mears in partnership with the London Borough of Greenwich will be hosting a Funday on Saturday 27 September from 12 noon onwards. It will be held at Richard Neve House, 57 Plumstead High Street, SE18 1SS. There will be a wide range of tasty food and drink including a delicious BBQ sponsored by Sainsbury’s.Activities include:

  • BBQ, cakes & refreshments
  • Count the sweets
  • Raffle
  • Treasure Hunt
  • Bric-a-brac
  • Face painting
  • Music
  • Manager in the wooden stocks
  • Tombola and more!

All money raised will go towards the residents' social fund to ensure they can enjoy a variety of activities, events and day trips.Jason Cox, Mears Care Manager said: “The biggest challenge in our community is social isolation and we felt that organising a day that everyone could enjoy would be a fantastic way to bring people together."The day is planned for all ages, although we know that isolation and loneliness is a particular issue for older people, it’s really important to us and the local community to encourage inter-generational interaction.
