Worktree Milton Keynes are all about inspiring local young people to reach their career potential. A career journey is very often influenced by the working people that a young person comes into contact with. Worktree’s unique expertise has enabled students to have thousands of live, real-world conversations with a wide range of working professionals.

Worktree aim to reduce under-employment, develop employability skills, stimulate work aspirations, provide career information, introduce real workers and set realistic expectations. They provide a truly local experience and aim for every young person in Milton Keynes to meet and interview 50 work guests before leaving school.

This year has continued to bring it’s challenges. Worktree have had to adapt during Covid, however, this meant that sessions were even more accessible for the Mears team. Students are joined in their classroom by 4-5 guests from the world of work live on screen. Following an employability warm-up activity, students ask questions about the guests’ jobs. In longer sessions, additional employability activities can be arranged.

2021 has seen the Senior Managers of Mears make pledges to personally commit to Social Value projects. This year, Peter Baldwin, Managing Director, Neil Owen, Regional Director, Andrew Fanning, Senior Commercial and Claire Foden, Customer Success Manager have all committed time and joined sessions. We have also had a number of the office-based team contribute, meaning that Mears have been able to contribute even more value.

We are a trusted partner of Worktree and when they are short on volunteers, Mears Milton Keynes are always one of the first businesses they approach in order to contribute to sessions.

The feedback from young people is always exceptional and Mears are proud to continue to support the amazing mission of Worktree.
