A team of apprentices from Morrison supported the local community this summer by sprucing up the toilets at the Multicultural Unity Centre.
The centre which provides services to improve the quality of life for the local community had toilet facilities which were in desperate need of attention. Morrison which provides repairs and maintenance on behalf of Rotherham Council stepped in and gave the toilets a total refurbishment free of charge.
The 20 young people involved in the project joined Morrison as part of the Morrison Academy apprenticeship scheme, which has been running for three years. They wanted to work together on projects that would help others and develop their own skills at the same time.
Azizzum Akhtar from the Multicultural Unity Centre said 'The board of the Unity Centre would like to place on record their heart felt thanks to Mark Waterhouse and the team for supporting us and refurbishing the toilets.'
Andy Chambers, Partnering Manager for Morrison said 'The centre needed our help and we were more than happy to use it as an opportunity for our apprentices to understand our community ethos and gain some valuable work experience at the same time.'
