No, not the one at the Emirates stadium but arguably a more important community facility that a seventeen-strong team from Mears Projects worked on earlier this year, in partnership with Arsenal's Youth Outreach Team.
A team of volunteers from Mears Projects sites in Dartford, Tonbridge, Towcester, Islington, Bracknell, Hanover & Colchester and MHT donated their time and skills to refurbish the pitch, which was in a very poor state.
Arsenal launched the new pitch last week with Arsenal player, Carl Jenkinson, undertaking the official opening. Everyone from Mears who had participated or contributed in some way was invited along, together with suppliers who had generously donated materials. Match of the Day and Arsenal TV were also there and Sandra Butler, Projects Head of Business Support who had coordinated the refurbishment for Mears, was interviewed by Match of the Day - the interview will be shown when the programme re-starts at the beginning of the next season.
