Mears Stowmarket care branch has been rated as 'Outstanding' for its caring service by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with an overall rating of ‘Good’.
The branch provides homecare and support to 120 local people and employs 50.
The CQC report follows an inspection in June and highlights that the people using the service and their relatives said they received “outstanding care” and “it could not be better”.
The report continues:
“Members of staff were described as caring and competent. People using the service and their relatives complimented the staff on their positive attitude, turning up on time through all weathers, never missing a visit and being consistent, anticipating and responding to a deterioration in the person's health. Staff were empathic and treated people with understanding. People's privacy and dignity were respected. Staff encouraged people to maintain and develop their independent living skills.”
Under the heading ‘Is the service caring?’, the report says:
- People felt they matter as they were treated with kindness, respect and compassion
- People were encouraged to express their views and these acted upon by the staff
- The privacy and dignity of people were respected by the staff while the staff encouraged people to maintain their independence
- The service staff had recognised people’s needs and supported them to develop clubs and arrange trips together for their wellbeing.
