Mears Care Staff Andrea Knight-Down and Vivienne Brownrigg, from Devizes recently 'Braved the Shave' for Macmillan Cancer Support. They smashed their target of £500 and raised an incredible £765!

Andrea and Vivienne, who work for Mears Care in Devizes, come across many service users and families who are affected by cancer. As a gesture of support, they gave up their locks to help the charity support even more people living with cancer.

According to Andrea and Vivienne:

“This affects one out of two people, and in our own lives, we have come close to cancer.  This is a cause that is close to our hearts and we are grateful to everyone who has supported us to take on this challenge.

“Macmillan selflessly assists those in need where they can, and they always need the funds to do help them do so.”

“At Mears, we believe in giving back to our communities and a small gesture like this can do so much for others.

This is our way of showing that there is hope, compassion and understanding for people who need it the most.

Jayna Kawa, Regional Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said:

"Funds raised through the Brave the Shave campaign will help Macmillan to support people living with cancer from the moment they are diagnosed, helping them to live life as fully as they can. Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and simply cannot support the growing number of people who need us without help from supporters like those from Andrea and Vivienne."
