Ayrshire contract win

Successful Care bid in Scotland

Mears Care Scotland have made a successful application to provide Care at Home services for North Ayrshire Council.

We have been ranked second of five providers by the Council in each of the two lots we bid for, which gives us the opportunity to continue delivering care in the areas of Invine and Kilwinning, and Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston.

Currently, we provide around 400 hours of care to Ayrshire from our Prestwick branch on a spot, off contract basis. This award means we will be able to retain and hopefully build on that business.

Through the contact, we hope to increase employment opportunities in the area, including apprenticeships, work closely with SMEs and support education and community development projects.

The contract starts on 1st July and runs until end June 2020, with the option to extend for a further two years.

Theresa Cull, Regional Director for Scotland, said:  "We're delighted to have the opportunity to build on our relationship with North Ayrshire Council.  Mears is committed to improving pay and prospects for care workers.  Through this contract, we'll be providing attractive job and apprenticeship opportunities for local people with a large employer who are in a position to be able to invest in their staff.  We look forward to growing our team in Ayrshire and also to contributing to the wider community."
