The company's Operations Director, David Miles, received the award from Welwyn Hatfield MP the Rt. Hon. Grant Shapps, who is Minister of State for Housing and Local Government, during a visit to a local housing refurbishment scheme in July.
The company took over 100 tenants and housing association board members to the exhibition and the award judges were especially impressed by the variety of events, that were held on the Mears stand. They included demonstrations of healthy eating on a budget by a professional chef and opportunities for visitors to talk to Mears specialists on a range of topics from the vision of integrated care and housing to new service innovations for the social housing sector.
"Our aim was to demonstrate the Mears approach to working with tenants and also to highlight the considerable emphasis that the company places on supporting its local communities", said David Miles. "We were especially pleased that the judges commented on the friendliness of our stand staff and the professional manner in which they dealt with visitors' questions".
Coun. Roger Trigg, Independent Chair of the Management Board of the Mears Welwyn Hatfield Housing Maintenance Partnership, received the award on Mears' behalf at the exhibition.
