Mears Care, who provide care to people living in their own flats at Nichols Court in Linton have just been awarded ‘Good’ status by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) the body that inspects and regulates care services in England.
Nichols Court provides supported housing accommodation to over 65’s including those with physical disabilities and dementia. In a routine inspection the CQC assessed the team who provide personal care to residents. The service was assessed on the following five areas; whether the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. CQC awarded Mears with a ‘Good’ score in each of these categories.
The CQC spoke with people who use the service with one person stating, "They're lovely, bright and cheery. They have a chat, you can have a laugh." Another said, “I trust them implicitly, there's not one member of staff I wouldn't have in my flat."
The report following the visit commented that, “People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. Staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the agency supported this practice.” “Staff were caring, kind and treated people with respect. People were listened to and were involved in their care.”
Wendy Gould, the Manager of the Service said:
“The staff at Nichols Court work so hard to maintain a high standard. I am so proud of them. They are a team of nine carers that any care manager would feel blessed to work with. They do more than the extra mile and this shows in the feedback and the atmosphere here at Nichols Court. The happiness and personalised care of the residents is paramount and this shows in the dedication by the staff.”
