Croydon Churches Housing Association awards 10 year contract to Mears

Croydon Churches Housing Association (CCHA) is delighted to be working in partnership with Mears, the leading social housing repairs and maintenance provider in the UK, to provide high quality services to residents for a total of 10 years. The contract, which will commence on 1 July, will ensure that residents see improvements to repairs and maintenance services, enhanced value for money and additional investment in the local area.The tender was awarded after extensive consultation which included CCHA’s Residents Scrutiny Panel and external consultants. Residents’ feedback was central to reviewing the contract and ensuring that it delivers tangible benefits for CCHA’s residents. The new service will see increased liaison with residents with the aim of improving communications, increasing customer satisfaction and delivering easier methods of reporting and tracking repairs.In addition to the core elements of the contract, Mears has pledged to ensure greater social value by employing two apprentices. Future apprenticeships (trade, technical, customer care and management) and job opportunities will be advertised by CCHA and open to residents to apply. Workshops will also be offered to local people to enable at least 100 CCHA residents to move into work related initiatives over the life of the partnership.Mears will be working with CCHA’s local communities and staff to support local charities with events and projects throughout the duration of the contract.Tracy Cullen, Chief Executive of CCHA, said: “Our aim is to deliver excellent services and value for money for our residents.
