Mears Care Ashford rated good overall and outstanding in caring by CQC

Mears, a leading provider of home care and support services to 83 people living in Ashford, Tenterden, Brabourne, Charing, Chilham, Challock and surrounding areas has been rated as good overall and outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the body that inspects and regulates care services in England.In an announced inspection, the CQC assessed the local team of 27 workers providing home care services to people in Ashford and surrounding areas and found that they were providing a high level of individual care. The inspectors focused on five core elements: was the service safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The service was rated either good or outstanding in all areas. Service users spoke positively about the care they received and had no negative comments.The service was well led with high staffing levels and excellent recruitment together with good procedures for safeguarding service users and reporting issues. Staff were effective as they were well trained including studying for formal qualifications and concentrated on understanding their clients. They supported people with nutrition, acknowledged their health requirements and contacted other health professionals as and when necessary. Care workers responded to individual needs and care plans were developed with service users and reviewed on a regular basis.One family member said: “Mears has stepped in and been brilliant at keeping us informed, and done everything possible to keep Mum safe.”Mears care Ashford was rated as outstanding for their caring attitude which went above and beyond the call of duty. People’s privacy was respected and service users were encouraged to retain as much independence as possible. Throughout the year staff gave up their own time to provide people with special events which helped enrich their lives and tackle the issues of isolation and loneliness. Events included a summer fair, coffee mornings and a Christmas dinner. Staff also collected items for Christmas Hampers and gave them to people who did not have anyone else to support them, showing a fantastic level of compassion and care.One person said: “I am very grateful for all their dedication, and they see to all the things I cannot do for myself.”Thank you cards expressed people’s satisfaction with their care, such as: “I want to let you know how amazing your staff are.
