Mears Care White Willows passes CQC inspection

Mears, a leading provider of home care and support services to 24 people living in White Willows, Sheffield, has been awarded full marks by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the body that inspects and regulates care services in England.In an unannounced inspection, the CQC assessed the local team of 19 care workers providing home care services to people in White Willows and found that they were providing a high level of individual care. The inspectors focused on five of the essential standards and found that people were happy with the care they received. Mears is providing care to meet the personal, emotional and healthcare needs of people who use the service.Mears received full marks in five essential standards categories. It was noted that staff were providing consistent and respectful support, clients felt able to make choices and changes to their care when required. They could be sure of receiving good, consistent support to promote their welfare and are involved in creating their own care plans. Additionally relatives were involved in reviewing the care and support needs of their loved ones.One person who used the service said: "Staff are very polite, they always knock on my door before being invited in.”The report found that Mears has systems in place to assess and monitor the quality of service provision and deal with feedback. Quality assurance systems and records clearly identified any shortfalls which were addressed promptly.Another service user said: "They never rush me, they take their time, spend time having a chat, they are lovely.” The inspectors found that people are supported by highly skilled and knowledgeable staff who receive ongoing training and support from Mears. Service users and their families were interviewed and provided overwhelmingly positive feedback about the level and quality of home care they received.Donna Stacey, Manager of Mears Care White Willows, said: “Our care workers work so hard in our community to ensure the highest quality of care for people in White Willows.
