Mears Energy to provide warmer homes in Kent and Medway

Mears Energy, part of Mears Group, has secured a place on the framework to deliver Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy measures for the Kent and Medway Sustainable Energy Partnership. The four year framework will concentrate on ensuring homes in Kent and Medway are energy efficient and that residents feel the benefits with warmer homes and reduced fuel bills.A key aim of the project is to support the insulation of solid wall properties in Kent; currently there are around 112,000 solid wall properties which are untreated and tens of thousands of properties with cavity walls that have no insulation. In addition to this Mears Energy will also have the opportunity to bid for contracts to install Solar PV on 150,000 suitable properties, as well as other commercial andnon-domestic buildings.Mears Energy secured a place due to their understanding of the customer journey and their knowledge of how to manage the environmental impact during the works. Mears currently provides services in partnership with a number of Kent Local Authorities. These relationships together with a robust delivery infrastructure and the support of Mears Projects will ensure the smooth running of any future contracts.Matt Lucas, Director for Mears Energy, said: “Improving the thermal efficiency of properties and installing renewable technologies such as Solar PV has many added benefits – not least to residents and building occupiers, as these measures will provide a real means to reduce their spend on energy bills and lower energy waste.”“Mears Energy is delighted to be awarded the place on the Kent and Medway Sustainable Energy Partnership Framework – and we very much look forward to working together on exciting energy initiatives going forward.”Carolyn McKenzie, Head of Sustainable Business and Communities at Kent County Council, said: “Kent County Council and the Kent and Medway Sustainable Energy Partnership are delighted to have awarded the retrofitting framework and look forward to working with the companies on the framework to make Kent homes warmer and more energy efficient.”
