Mears Group Wins 2009 PLC Awards

Mears is pleased to announce that it has won the prestigious 2009 PLC Award for New Company of the Year, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) in association with The London Stock Exchange.

Qualification to be short-listed for the award of New Company of the Year was for companies that joined the London Stock Exchange main market in 2008, and were a potential future Company of the Year. The winner will already have demonstrated that it possesses both growth and management qualities and will, in effect, have served notice to the investing community that this is a formidable growth public company in the making.

The PLC Awards, which reward excellence in the smaller quoted company sector, took place on Thursday 12 March 2009 and were presented by news personality Penny Smith.  The high profile City event was attended by over 1,500 guests, including quoted companies, investment banks, fund managers, investment analysts, and corporate advisors.

Commenting on receiving the award, Chairman of Mears, Bob Holt, said: "The award is a tribute to everyone at Mears and the continued growth that the Group has achieved.  I commend our workforce at all levels for their commitment and endeavour.  We are better placed than ever to take advantage of opportunities that the current market brings us and we will continue to build on our market leadership in all areas."
