Mears wins award for excellence in contractor engagement

Mears has won the Excellence in Contractor Engagement category at the TPAS Awards for its work with the livin Futures project.The annual TPAS (Tenants Participation Advisory Service) awards recognise excellent service by social housing providers, tenants and contractors.The livin Futures project was set up by homes and communities business livin to provide pathways into work for people living in deprived areas of County Durham. The project offers a choice of 18 pathways delivered in partnership with Mears, Sunderland Football Club’s charity the Foundation of Light and others.It’s the second award livin Futures has picked up this week – on Tuesday (7th) it won the Inspiring Young Talent Award at the Business in the Community (BITC) Awards.Alan Boddy, executive director, people and communities for livin, said: “Another win is fantastic news and shows how livin Futures is going from strength to strength. The programme has diversified into pre-apprenticeships, schools programmes and skills foundations, offering a broader range of qualifications for all ages and abilities to meet skills gaps in the local labour market.”Colin Middlemass, Mears Chief Operating Officer, said: “We’re absolutely delighted the partnership has won! livin Futures is a fantastic project and is having a real impact on helping people from deprived social backgrounds into work and gaining new skills.
