Mears New Homes have been appointed by Catalyst Housing Group to undertake the design and construction of 13 houses and 35 apartments with associated communal areas, amenity space, parking, infrastructure and services at the former Temple Cowley swimming pool site, Cowley, Oxfordshire.
Catalyst is one of the leading housing associations in London and the South East, managing over 21,000 properties and developing schemes for market sale to help cross subsidise their affordable housing delivery targets.
The previous buildings on the site have now been demolished down to slab level and partially crushed brick from the demolition has been left on the site in spoil heaps to be reused within foundations and road structures.
The development will deliver a much needed range of new apartments and houses that will help to meet an increasing housing demand in Oxford. 24 of the homes will be delivered for market sale and 24 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership tenures.
We were invited to undertake a single stage tender process as one of four Contractors appointed to the South East Consortium Construction (SEC) Framework. This appointment is especially celebrated as it marks the first successful conversion of a SEC Framework mini-tender and our first opportunity with Catalyst Housing Group.
Our preconstruction processes will commence shortly, with an anticipated start on site in the New Year of 2018.
