NPT Homes and Mears transform 1,000th kitchen

Mears is delighted to have just installed the 1000th kitchen for NPT Homes in Neath. The kitchen was completed this week as part of on-going work to refurbish NPT Homes’ properties, and also marks the one year anniversary of the contract getting underway. Over the next five years it is expected another 9000 households will benefit from the improvements programme.Tenant Sadie Evans is thrilled with her new kitchen and said “I’m really happy with my new kitchen and it’s made a positive impact on my family’s life. The Mears and NPT Homes team were really helpful and my Tenant Liaison Officer was great. They listened to what I wanted and kept me informed all the way through the works.”Tenants of NPT Homes are being given colour choices when it comes to their kitchen renovations, something which was not available previously. Tenants have been involved since the start of the programme and worked with Mears and NPT Homes to provide a selection of options.Andrew Carey Head of Investment and Regeneration said “The past year has been a really positive one across the borough and 93% of tenants are delighted with the work and the improvement is has had on their lives. The completion of the 1000th kitchen signifies a major milestone in the improvement programme and will be the first of many over the next five years.For the future, our mission is to continue working with our contractors to deliver the Welsh Housing Quality Standard, sustain existing jobs, develop new employment opportunities and ultimately improve the community where our tenants live.”Adrian Marshman, Mears Regional Director said “We’re delighted to have been a part of the team which has got to this landmark achievement within the first 12 months of the framework. Significant effort has gone in from all parties to achieve this, and we look forward to working with NPT Homes and their tenants to develop the service further in the coming months and years”.
