Recognition for Mears Care in Hungerford

Mears, a leading provider of care and support services, has been rated as ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), for its service to 34 people at Redwood House in Hungerford, Berkshire.In CQC inspection found that the service was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Redwood House is a domiciliary care agency that supports adults over the age of 55 in their own flats within the Redwood House Extra Care Scheme. The extra care team can assist adults with a variety of needs and operates from an office within the housing complex.The inspection team, consisting of two inspectors, spoke with 12 people who use theservice and three of their relatives, as well as the manager, eight staff members, and the local authority social care professionals including an Adult Safeguarding Co-ordinator, Care Quality Officer andMaximising Independence Social worker.Those using the service told the inspectors that the staff respected them and were “very caring and very thoughtful". They said staff had always promoted their dignity, respected the choices they made and involved them in decisions about their care. Other comments included: “they always ask me what I would like to wear as they know I like to be colour coordinated” and “they are very respectful of me”.Christopher Mitchell, Mears’ manager at Redwood House, said: “We are delighted with our rating, which is reward for our hard work and commitment to the highest quality care for the people of Redwood House.”
