Mears’ friendly, expert local care teams help thousands of people to live independently in their own homes. We support people of all ages, including people with complex conditions such as dementia or a learning disability, or those just needing a little bit of extra help at home.
We can provide personal care and support
We can provide assistance with daily living – for example, getting out of bed, getting dressed, going to the toilet or having a bath. A visit from one of our dedicated care workers can assist with these tasks and others.
We can help do the cooking and cleaning
Whether it be hanging laundry, ironing or cleaning the house our care workers can assist with everyday tasks.
We can provide live in care
Live in care is a great alternative to residential care, it provides companionship and round the clock care and takes away the risk of living alone. Mears provides 24-hour live in care to those people who prefer or need somebody to assist with their daily living tasks round the clock.
We can support you to get out and about
Our care workers can accompany you on shopping visits, or do the shopping trips for you. We can also accompany you to GP or hospital appointments or even social activities.
We can support you after a stay in hospital
Our care team can provide support if you have been unwell and need short term assistance until you are back on your feet. We put a big emphasis on reablement – this is a short intensive period of care designed to help you regain your independence.
We can support you to have a holiday
Our care team can provide you with the support that you need during time away in the UK or abroad.
We can enable family members to have a break from caring
Whether it’s for a week, one morning a week or just occasionally, Mears care workers can step in to provide care, giving peace of mind to family carers wanting a break from caring responsibilities.
We can adapt your home to your needs
Home adaptations can reduce time in hospital, or the number or length of home care visits required. Whether you need an adapted bathroom, ramps and grab rails, or telecare and sensors offering round the clock reassurance. Mears can deal with all aspects of supply and installation.
We provide end of life care
Our 24-hour service is delivered by highly trained end of life care workers. We will work with you and your family at all times to meet your needs and wishes.
Support for people with learning disabilities
We are able to support young adults in the transition from children’s services or living with parents to setting up their own home for the first time. We also support adults with a learning disability and/or physical disability make the transition from residential or hospital care to live within the community either on their own or with the close support of others
We care for people with Dementia and Alzheimer’s
Mears has considerable experience of caring for people with dementia in all care situations including: home care, live-in and end of life care. We are investing heavily in training and developing our workforce skills in this specific area of care delivery. We want our care workers to be able to detect signs of dementia or memory loss so that early intervention measures can be taken and support packages put in place without delay. This can have a major effect on managing the condition and helping families to understand and support their loved one. We are also developing teams of specialist staff who can support somebody in the later stages of dementia to live within the community either on their own or with the close support of others.
